Castrignano del Capo derives its name from the Latin word "castrum," meaning fortress or camp. It is believed that this small village was once a Roman fortification used to defend strategic locations. In the tenth century, the Saracens destroyed the nearby settlement of Vereto, now known as Patù, and some of its inhabitants took refuge in the fortress of Castrum, giving rise to the town of Castrignano del Capo and neighboring areas.
The municipality of Castrignano del Capo, where the villa is located, is just 2 km from Santa Maria di Leuca, at the southernmost tip of Apulia and Italy. Santa Maria di Leuca is 130 km from Salento Airport (Brindisi), about an hour's drive, and 90 km from Lecce.
Santa Maria di Leuca is especially famous for its 19th-century villas.
